Dougal, CEO
Dougal is a member of the founding family of Smartbox, beginning his journey in 2004. He gained extensive knowledge of AAC by working closely with users, speech and language therapists, families and support networks. Since developing a deep understanding of assistive technology and the community Smartbox serves, Dougal became passionate about building the company to support people with communication needs across the globe.
Hannah, CMO
Hannah joined Smartbox in 2014, with marketing and communications leadership experience in the health and customer service industries. Hannah was responsible for developing the Smartbox brand, and is a key member of the team developing and delivering the strategy to reach more people who would benefit from AAC globally. This leadership has extended to Training and Service, with a continued focus on user success, customer experience, and group collaboration.
Jarrod, CFO
Jarrod joined Smartbox in 2016 in Finance, working as a business leader within the Smartbox Group Board, developing and implementing financial and operational structures across the organisation since he joined. In addition to responsibility for the group’s financial controls and reporting, Jarrod has been key in developing the business strategy, including sustainability goals, managing suppliers and informing the operational direction of the business.
Simon, CTO
Simon comes from a data, product and engineering background with experience in high-growth technology, developing technical strategies and nurturing high performing teams. Since joining Smartbox in 2021, Simon has developed the product strategy and established a vision for the future, structuring our R&D teams to deliver the latest generation of AAC software and hardware. Simon also has oversight of IT and data management across the group.
Kevin, Non-Executive Chair
Kevin has been working with the board as a strategic advisor since 2023, and became Chair in 2024. Acting as a liaison with our parent, as well as supporting other CareTech businesses, including Enable All. Kevin serves as a non-executive member of the board. Kevin provides strategic guidance to the board, recognising the significant growth achieved as a group and the scale of opportunity to support more AAC users globally.

Talk To Me Technologies joined the Smartbox family in 2023. The team of AAC professionals based across the United States help people gain access to funded communication devices including Grid Pads and Talk Pads. Zyteq Australia
Based in Melbourne, Zyteq specialises in assistive technology and supports people of all ages with complex communication needs. They offer one of the most comprehensive ranges of AAC solutions in the country, including hardware, software, and accessories from Smartbox. The company was founded in 2008 and joined the Smartbox Family in 2025.
