Welcoming KMD to the Smartbox family
We are thrilled to announce that KMD, a leading assistive technology company based in the Netherlands in Duiven, has joined the Smartbox family. KMD has been empowering people with disabilities to live more independently since it was founded in 1987. For over three decades, they have been developing innovative communication devices, mounting solutions and software, tailoring them to meet people’s specific needs. They have a deep understanding of accessibility and inclusion, continually developing their services to better serve the AAC community in the Netherlands. The team at KMD has been Led by Marcel Cup since 2017. Throughout this time they have been working closely with Smartbox to introduce Grid software and Grid Pad communication devices. Together, we will be stronger and better equipped to support more people, combining KMD’s expertise with that of our teams in the UK, Ireland, US, Germany and France. This next step is an exciting moment, ensuring more people who need AAC can access it and thrive. The KMD team will continue to focus on serving people in the Netherlands while becoming an integral part of the Smartbox global family. Customers can expect the same exceptional tailored solutions, now enhanced by the resources and support of our wider group. In the next year, we will be focusing on learning from each other and supporting the ambitions of the KMD team to reach more people in the Netherlands. With even closer collaboration and deeper understanding of the needs of the Dutch community, our goal will be to make more Smartbox products available that are tailored to help people achieve their ambitions. With great opportunities and an even stronger foundation for KMD to serve people in The Netherlands. Will the company name change for Smartbox or KMD? There is no plan to change the KMD name. They will update their logo and some of their marketing to reflect their new home in the Smartbox Family, like Rehavista and Talk To Me. How will this change the products available to people in the Netherlands? The KMD team will have access to more Smartbox products and services over time, as well as collaborating with the R&D teams to develop the range for the future. How will this impact the service and support available to people in the Netherlands? The team already works hard to deliver the highest levels of service. Becoming part of Smartbox there will only be more opportunities to push this further in the future, leading the way in AAC customers’ experience.
