Celebrating Autism Acceptance Month
April is Autism Acceptance Month, a time to promote understanding, support inclusion, and ensure autistic individuals are able to express themselves and communicate in ways that work best for them. At Smartbox, we’re recognising this month with a campaign focused on awareness, understanding and accessibility – highlighting how AAC can empower individuals who are neurodiverse. Throughout the month, we’ll be sharing stories of young people with autism, resources, and insights to help families, professionals, and communities enhance their understanding of the role of AAC can have in supporting communication and independence. Autism is a lifelong form of neurodivergence that influences how individuals process and interact with the world around them. It varies widely from person to person, influencing communication, social interaction, sensory processing, and ways of thinking. By fostering understanding and acceptance, we can help create a more inclusive society where everyone is valued. To support more people in accessing AAC, we’re offering 50% off Grid for iPad from April 1-11. This limited-time offer provides an opportunity for families and individuals to explore AAC and try other forms of communication. As part of our campaign, we’ll be sharing the stories of William, Remy, and Lillie. We spoke with their parents to learn how they use Grid to communicate. Throughout April, we’ll be sharing their stories, offering insight into their experiences with Grid for iPad and the impact AAC has had on their confidence, independence, and ability to express themselves. Throughout the month, we’ll also be launching a blog and social campaign focused on education, awareness, and practical support. Look out for content across our channels covering: By sharing stories, guidance, and valuable resources, we hope to empower more people with the knowledge and tools to explore AAC.
